Avon-ISI's Role

International Safety Instruments (ISI)- an AVON Protection Company - is a leading designer and manufacturer of quality self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and thermal imaging camera (TIC) systems that employ some of the most advanced features in the industry. ISI was founded in 1980 in response to firefighters' demands for better respiratory protection. For almost three decades, ISI has distinguished itself by working closely with firefighters, law enforcement and industrial users to create respiratory protection equipment to meet their changing needs.

Avon Rubber, p.l.c. acquired International Safety Instruments in 2005, combining the ISI SCBA expertise with the Avon Protection Systems respiratory line of products. Avon Protection Systems focuses on supplying the highest quality CBRN respirators for military, paramilitary, police, first-response and civil defense applications. Avon has manufacturing facilities in the United States and the United Kingdom. Avon-ISI's products are backed by world-class training, service and repair - all provided by some of the industry’s most knowledgeable experts, from engineering to production to customer relations.

At the April, 2008, Fire Department Instructor’s Conference (FDIC), Summit Safety and ISI debuted the integration of the Pathfinder system on the ISI Viking SCBA and 3500 TIC systems. In April, 2009, Avon-ISI and Summit Safety concluded an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement for the patented ultrasonic technology and launched the EchoTracer™ firefighter locating system and the EchoVision™ TIC & Tracker fusion.
